Kentucky Man’s Halloween Display Shocks His Town
in poor taste: something that is offensive, inappropriate, or shows bad judgment
The Halloween decorations on one street in Stanton, Kentucky shocked the whole neighborhood. While halloween displays with skeletons and ghosts are common in the US, this one was different. Outside Stephan Marcum’s home, police found five fake bodies in trash bags. One had a rope around its neck with a sign that said “District Judge.” The others were labeled with the names of local officials.
For years, Marcum had problems with city officials about his home’s water, sewer, and electrical services. His Halloween decorations were not only in poor taste. They were also illegal. Marcum was arrested for making terroristic threats.
But not all Halloween displays lead to handcuffs. Across the country, some homeowners use their creativity to spread joy instead of fear. One of the most famous is Tom BetGeorge, whose light shows feature music, lasers, and even bursts of fire.
